A Letter from Reverend Thomas Chambers

Dear Friends of Willwoods:

Thanks to each of you who support the Willwoods Community and our ministries throughout the year. Whether it’s through prayer, volunteering or financial assistance, we are grateful and appreciate your gifts. We are truly blessed to be able bring joy and serve so many in our area who are suffering and in need of God’s love in their lives.

As the city of New Orleans remembers the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, I am proud of the efforts and accomplishments of the Willwoods Community in the rebuilding of our region through prayer and service. Today, our Affordable Housing Ministry assists over 1,000 low income residents with a safe and secure place to call home. Willwoods responds to the needs of married couples with monthly retreats that promote the Sacrament of Marriage. WLAE-TV brings wholesome and uniquely Catholic programming into the homes of audiences both young and old. And at Willwoods, we use technology to evangelize the love of Our Lord with Mass and the praying of the Rosary on the internet with our website TheDailyMass.com.

All of us in the Willwoods Community are truly blessed to be able to serve our brothers and sisters with whom we have been called to minister the corporal and spiritual works of mercy.

My thanks to all of you who have the gift of Our Lord’s love and the Willwoods experience. You are remembered in my daily Mass. God bless.

Ever devotedly in the Willwoods Community.

Rev. Thomas E. Chambers, C.S.C., Ph.D

The Willwoods Community was established in 1978 by a group of married couples desiring to support the Catholic Church and the Southeast Louisiana community through prayer and service. Since then, Willwoods has grown to serve different areas, including Affordable Housing, Faith & Marriage, WLAE TV and TheDailyMass.com.

With God’s grace, we strive to increase the spiritual enrichment opportunities, programs and retreats offered to married couples. We create diverse faith communities where values such as truth, love, respect, compassion and mercy are joyfully embodied. And we aspire to increase the number of our sisters and brothers desiring to prayerfully follow the way of Jesus Christ.

The Willwoods Community motto, “Rooted in Prayer, United in Service” reminds us daily to remain open to God’s love and mercy as we dedicate ourselves to His service.
