A Letter From the President of Willwoods Community:

My dear friends of the Willwoods Community ministries:

The Willwoods Community Board of Trustees recently elected our new co-chairs, Susie and Pat Veters. As they assume their new roles, my colleagues of the Willwoods Community join me in welcoming them, as well as thanking them for accepting the positions.

We also extend our thanks to Mary Jane and John Becker for their service rendered to the Willwoods Community as co-chairs during the past several years. They followed Deacon Paul Nalty and Jane Nalty in that capacity. Indeed, Willwoods Community has been blessed with the caliber of co-chairs and trustees who have served.

It is my pleasure to work with my colleagues in the ministries of the Willwoods Community. I am blessed to be with each person who generously gives of themselves to our mission of serving God’s people. The challenges are many, but the rewards are worth every minute of the challenge. It is through the generosity of God that we have such dedicated and joyful people. When you serve God’s people, the result is peace and joy.

Each ministry in the Willwoods Community is unique – Faith and Marriage, Malta Senior Living Residence, WLAE-TV, LAE Productions, and Affordable Housing. As one who has spent his entire career prior to coming to Willwoods in the field of higher education, I see the ministries the same as the divisions of a college or university. Each division is unique, but each plays an essential role in the success of the institution. Like the divisions in academia, each ministry is totally united in purpose – doing God’s will. They are a team.

I am reminded of the words spoken by the Reverend Charles O’Donnell, president of Notre Dame, as a final tribute at Knute Rockne’s funeral: “In an age that has stamped itself as the era of the ‘go-getter’…Knute Rockne was a “go-giver – a not much better word, but it means a divine thing.’” I know that in a go-getting world, the Willwoods Community team is a go-giving team.

May God bless each of the ministries, those whom we serve, and our many friends who assist us in our endeavors.
