About Willwoods Community
Vision Statement
The Willwoods Community is committed to ministering to the people of God in the Archdiocese of New Orleans and surrounding areas. Through its programs of Faith and Marriage (utilizing the Supper and Substance gatherings and the Willwoods Retreat Center), Prayer and Adoration, the Malta Senior Residences, Affordable Housing, Fiat Press and WLAE-TV, we hope to become a beacon of hope and a channel of grace to those we serve.
History
The Willwoods Community was established in 1978 by a group of married couples desiring to support the Catholic Church and the community through prayer and service. Since then, Willwoods has grown to serve in six different areas, including Faith & Marriage, Prayer & Adoration, Malta Senior Living,
Affordable Housing, Fiat Press & WLAE TV.
With God's grace, we strive to increase the spiritual enrichment opportunities, programs and retreats offered to married couples. We create diverse faith communities where values such as truth, love, respect, compassion and mercy are joyfully embodied. And we aspire to increase the number of our sisters and brothers desiring to prayerfully follow the way of Jesus Christ.
The Willwoods Community motto, "Rooted in Prayer, United in Service" reminds us daily to remain open to God's love and mercy as we dedicate ourselves to His service.
Mission Statement
We, the members of Willwoods Community, a Catholic faith community in the Archdiocese of New Orleans, are dedicated to promoting the sacramentality of marriage. With the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and the intercession of the Blessed Mother, we carry out this mission through prayer and service. Ever dependent on God's loving gifts of grace, we seek to minister the corporal and spiritual works of mercy.
